Creating A Backyard Wildlife Habitat
Christine Lampe, Master Gardener
10:00 AM to 10:30 AM — Room 105
Besides serving as a beautiful functional landscape, your home landscaping can also provide habitats for multiple wildlife species (butterflies, birds, beneficial pollinators, lizards, frogs, and much more). This helps the environment, as well as adds to the enjoyment of your yard as you interact with the wildlife.
Christine is a Master Gardener in Riverside County, specializing in organic fruit and vegetable gardening, herbs, and edible landscaping. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, as well as a secondary teaching credential, and has taught high school Biology.
Christine’s gardening philosophy is, “If I’m going to put time, energy, and water into growing it, I might as well grow something to eat or be useful, in addition to being nice to look at.” With her husband’s help, their yard is slowly transforming into an edible landscape. Their goal is to organically grow almost all of their own produce.
Christine is also active with the Ca Rare Fruit Growers, San Bernardino Co. Master Food Preservers, and the Inland Empire chapter of Label GMOs.*
