Barbara author of Wildflowers and Important Native Plants of the Inland Empire, learned to enjoy flowers and birds while camping with her mother. Loving the jungle wilds of the Santa Ana River, Barbara worked 19 years at the Robidoux Nature Center sharing nature with people via school field trips, summer camps, and Butterfly Days. Since retiring, she volunteers at Hidden Valley Nature Center, leads wildflower walks at Harford Springs Park, and explores local nature trails with her children, friends, and her dog Shadow. She claims she finds something new every time she goes on a trail!
Barbara holds a BA in Political Science with a teaching minor in life science (biology) and a teaching credential from UC Berkeley.
Jenny Iyer, photographer, grew up along the Santa Ana River, volunteering summers with her mom at the Louis Robidoux Nature Center. She gained a love of the outdoors from her parents and of photography from her grandfather. She graduated from UC Riverside cum laude, with a degree in creative writing, and works in the newsroom at The Press-Enterprise newspaper. Thanks to a string of rambunctious dogs and their need for exercise, she and her mother, Barbara Iyer, have been taking weekly hikes in the Inland area for a decade, during which digital photography has turned an expensive film hobby into a more fancy-free passion. She lives in Jurupa Valley with her mom and two spirited dogs, Jasmine and Abby.
