Preserving Backyard Bounty
Charlotte Davidson, Master Food Preservers
11:30 AM to 12:00 PM — Room 105
Many fruits and vegetables are simple and fun to grow in our own backyards. But sometimes we “grow overboard” and end up with too much of a good thing. What to do with this excess bounty? Pickle, dehydrate, can, salt, preserve, freeze!
Charlotte was born in Riverside and grew up in a farm house in the middle of an orange grove. The family kept a fruit and vegetable garden and always ate and preserved fresh, nutritious food. After college, Charlotte lived in France for many years where she broadened her interest in food and its preservation. Upon returning to Riverside, she and her husband bought a small organic farm of their own where they grow oranges and a variety of other fruits and vegetables. Charlotte is a Master Gardener as well as a Master Food Preserver. Master Food Preservers San Bernardino County 909-387-2194.
